Real Madrid is reportedly confident in securing the transfer of Rodri from Manchester City. The Spanish club is actively working on a deal to bring the 30-year-old Spain captain to their squad. This pursuit comes as José Mourinho has explicitly requested Rodri to strengthen the midfield, according to journalist Roberto Gómez.
Gómez, speaking on La Tribu on Radio MARCA, indicated that Mourinho has made it clear he wants Rodri. The Real Madrid coach is said to be firm on the profile he desires for the midfield. Despite the strong interest, Real Madrid is evaluating various factors before making a definitive move for the Spanish international. These considerations include the player’s age, although he is believed to be in a prime period of his career, as well as his physical condition.
In parallel with their efforts for Rodri, Real Madrid is also advancing on another transfer target, Michael Olise. The club considers the signing of Olise a priority and is actively working on this deal. Roberto Gómez mentioned that the club is concentrating much of its current work on Olise.
Beyond these two players, there are hints that Real Madrid’s sporting management might be keeping open the possibility of another high-profile signing, referred to as a “galáctico.” The journalist did not specify who this player might be but suggested that the club could surprise with a top-level signing in the coming weeks.
Other transfer market activities
Elsewhere in the transfer market, Arsenal is reportedly considering a player-plus-cash deal for Atletico Madrid and Argentina striker Julian Alvarez, who is 26. This potential deal could involve 28-year-old Sweden forward Viktor Gyokeres moving to the La Liga club. Arsenal’s main target this summer remains Newcastle’s Brazil midfielder Bruno Guimaraes, 28. Reports suggest Mikel Arteta, Arsenal’s boss, is willing to pay up to £90m to secure Guimaraes, despite Newcastle’s anticipated rejection of an initial £70m offer. Guimaraes is reportedly keen on a move to Arsenal. Additionally, Bournemouth’s 22-year-old England international Alex Scott is also being considered as a midfield option for Arsenal.
Roma has shown interest in signing Norway winger Oscar Bobb from Fulham, even though the 23-year-old joined Fulham from Manchester City only six months ago. Paris St-Germain has not yet submitted a formal bid of £102m (120m euros) for RB Leipzig’s Ivory Coast winger Yan Diomande, 19. This situation has reportedly given renewed hope to clubs like Liverpool, Arsenal, Real Madrid, and Manchester City regarding Diomande.
Manchester United is not looking to sell their captain, Bruno Fernandes, 31, despite speculation linking the Portugal midfielder with a move away from Old Trafford. Meanwhile, Como is expected to meet with Chelsea to discuss the signing of England defender Trevoh Chalobah, 27. Chelsea is reportedly seeking at least £30m for Chalobah. Chelsea has also submitted an initial offer for 18-year-old Bayer Leverkusen and Bosnia-Herzegovina winger Kerim Alajbegovic.
In other news, Arsenal and Hamburg are in discussions regarding 26-year-old Portugal midfielder Fabio Vieira. Vieira reportedly wishes to join the Bundesliga club following a loan spell there last season. England striker Marcus Rashford, 28, has been invited to participate in a Manchester United documentary, which suggests that senior figures at the club are inclined to retain him.
